How to Make a Vocabulary Word List
Building a personal vocabulary list is one of the most effective ways to learn a new language, study for standardized tests (like the GRE/TOEFL), or memorize key terms for a class. This tool lets you make, edit, and export your list in seconds.
- Type a word or term in the first input box, and its meaning or translation in the second box.
- Click "+ Add Word" to add it to your list. All words are saved locally in your browser.
- Keep adding as many words as you need. To remove a word, click the ✕ next to it.
- When your list is complete, click "Export CSV" to download a comma-separated file of your words.
- Import the CSV into flashcard apps (like Anki, Quizlet, or Notion) to turn your list into study cards.
How CSV Export Works for Flashcards
The exported CSV has two columns: "word" and "meaning", with no header row, so it is compatible with almost all popular flashcard apps, including Anki, Quizlet, Memrise, Notion, and Microsoft Excel. The encoding is UTF-8, so it supports all languages including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and special characters.
All your words are saved in your browser's local storage as you add them, so if you close the page and come back later, your list will still be there. Clearing your browser data will erase the list, so export your CSV before clearing if you want to keep it.

What apps can I import the CSV into?
The exported CSV works with Anki, Quizlet, Memrise, Notion, Excel, Google Sheets, and almost any other flashcard or spreadsheet app. Just select "import from CSV" in your app of choice and map the two columns to front/back of the card.
Does this support non-English characters?
Yes. The CSV is UTF-8 encoded, so it supports all languages including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Cyrillic, and special characters like accents and diacritics.
Is there a limit to how many words I can add?
No. You can add hundreds or thousands of words if you need to — all storage is local to your browser, so there is no server-side limit.
Will my word list be saved if I close the page?
Yes. The list is stored in your browser's local storage, so it will reappear when you open the page again on the same device and browser. It will be erased if you clear your browser data or use incognito mode.
Can I share my word list with someone else?
Export the CSV and send the file to them — they can import it into the same tool or their own flashcard app. There is no direct sharing link feature yet.
